Las Llaves path was for decades a natural land communication barrier for the towns in the furthest shore in the south of the lake Chelenco. From the settlement it was just possible to go through this path in hard expeditions by the mountains during the summer. Later on in the seventies it was opened another path with the help of the army. It was only possible to cross it by horse during some days. People usually crossed with uncountable amount of cows and sometimes they lost a lot of them. This path was used only in case of emergencies because some years later arrived a ferry that is working until our days. It was just in the early nineties that it was traced a road for cars.

Today we want to reuse this settlers path, best known as the army path. It has not been used for more than 30 years. It is not known by most of the people.
This settlers’ path gives us the most amazing views of the lake, the length of the trip is about 6 hours by horse or trekking. It is also possible to go to some archeological places with rupestrian paintings and fossil zones as well as the watch of bizcachas, foxes, condors and the transition from steppe to caducifoleous forests .

The length of the trip is about 6 hours and the cost per person is US$120 and US$145 by horse with a minimum of 4 tourists.
